Palma, the capital of Majorca and the Balearic Islands, is the eighth largest city in Spain by population with some 500,000 inhabitants. The airport, the commercial harbour, and the Real Club Náutico www.rcnp.es and Club de Mar www.clubdemar-mallorca.com marinas are in its municipality. The old town, which contains the Cathedral, the Almudaina palace, the Arab baths and the Calatrava district is worth mentioning, as is the shopping district with its luxury shops on the Paseo del Borne and Jaime III streets. The Santa Catalina district, with its wide variety of bars, restaurants and shops, and a pleasant night-time atmosphere, is also a very attractive area. On the coast, the Portixol and Ciudad Jardín areas are very popular because of their bars, restaurants and shops, as well as their property offer.

This region comprises the neighbouring areas of Palma, containing three different parts: The first one includes the luxury residential area of Son Vida with its three golf courses, situated in the northwest of Palma city, and the small town of Gènova, located in the north of Palma as well. The second area comprises the small towns bordering to the north, as for instance Establiments which is perfect for horse enthusiasts due to its riding school, and Puigpunyent with its luxury hotel Son Net and various small firms producing Majorcan wine, already bordering to the Tramuntana mountains. The third area includes the countryside stretching from Palma to the southeast, so practically from Palma airport to the region of Llucmajor.
